Why Academy of Whole Learning

An accredited and nationally acclaimed School of Excellence, Academy of Whole Learning is the only private school in the state that is specifically designed for students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or related learning differences.  Offering a complete school program, we help our students succeed in a positive and unique educational environment that understands and supports their neurological, physical, social and emotional needs. Our expertly-trained staff provides a multi-sensory, hands-on learning experience that gives students the opportunity to truly enjoy learning. Each of our students receive an individually planned education, customized to each student’s current developmental level and individual learning needs.  Our curriculum is based on Common Core State Standards, but is taught at their instructional level.  Using small class sizes (8-10 students) and a blended teaching model, we also teach essential life skills, and social awareness and interaction. Most importantly, students at Academy of Whole Learning enjoy meaningful membership in our school community.  Our students experience a safe, supportive learning environment where they feel physically and emotionally secure.   Together, our students are engaged and motivated to learn and grow.  Our integrated program is a journey that enables our students – who may have struggled in traditional environments – to become confident, independent, self-advocates who are prepared for their next steps in life.

"Colleen is a rock star. She covered Owl Scouts for me when I was gone and it went very well. She has also done an awesome job of taking over as the art specialist. My students have been engaged during each class so far, which is not an easy task for them."

Today we kick off #TestimonialTuesday. This is one of many moments that make us so proud.
"You know, two years ago, none of us thought she'd ever do more than be a passenger. This is in no small part, AOWL's victory too. Thank you for helping my child and all our students!"

This week was full of fun, laughter, competition, & teamwork as our staff competed to solve a mystery & many challenges along the way. The final challenge was a jersey pride day. W/ Miss Karla judging, many were dressing to impress her. Even our Head of School, Miss Wyayn!

Today our students got to fill out mock ballots and learn all about the importance of voting! Their ballots included everyone who is currently running for Minnesota's Governor and they even received a classic red voting sticker for participating! #Election2018 #Midterms2018

"Mike has pushed the St. Croix students and AOWL to new heights. Since joining AOWL, Mike has encouraged an increase of academic rigor that has made our high school Achieve track the success that it is today, just a few years after the program started." Thank you, Mike!!
