Therapeutic Groups and Social Skills

AOWL Therapy Services offers individual and group services for individuals. Our focus is to provide each individual an opportunity to participate in unique experiences for personal growth and wellness. Our dedicated team has developed therapeutic groups to address the needs of our community. Groups will rotate on an 8-week offering and will target areas to increase the skill development of each individual, while offering connection and support.

Session 4 Groups begin the week of April 6. The deadline for registration is Friday, March 27

  • Social Skills

    Social Skills

    This 8-week group program will provide an opportunity for children to gain skills in social interaction and joint attention in a group setting. This group will target communication strategies, problem solving, and interacting with others to develop and practice skills to be successful in various environments. This group will meet one time a week.  $800

    Offerings include: Monday at lunch hour for ages 9-11, Monday over lunch hour for ages 12-14 and Tuesday over lunch hour for ages 15-17.

    Therapeutic Groups

    Building Quality Relationships: This 8-week program is designed for individuals who would like to increase friendship skills. The purpose of this group is to practice and develop relationship skills. These groups will create unique learning opportunities to work with others to learn, practice and refine social skills that promote relationships. Group will meet one time weekly for eight weeks.  $800

    Group Offered: Tuesday at 3:00-4:00pm 


     
    Life Skills - This 8-week program is designed for individuals who would like to increase knowledge and abilities to effectively manage events and challenges of daily life. Group topics will include but are not limited to: problem solving, responsibility, learning to listen and coping with challenges. Group will meet one time weekly for eight weeks. $800

    Group Offered: Wednesday over lunch for ages 9-11, Wednesday over lunch for ages 12-14, and Friday over lunch for ages 15-17.


    Anxiety and DepressionThis 8-week program is designed for students individuals who would like to increase their understanding of Anxiety or Depression and hope to develop healthy coping strategies. The purpose of this group is to increase an individual’s awareness of bodily sensations, increase understanding of feelings and thoughts as well as one’s ability to cope through various mindfulness exercises and coping strategies. Group will meet one time weekly for eight weeks.  $800

    Group Offered: Monday from 3:00-4:00pm for Middle School and Upper School Ages.

  • Sibling Group

    Sibling Group

    This 8-week group focuses on brothers and sisters of children diagnosed with Autism. The goal of the group is to support siblings, connect with others through shared experiences and learn about their sibling and selves through this unique opportunity. Topics include: exploring Autism, understanding emotions and how to cope, connecting with their siblings, increasing support with other siblings and how to develop a sense of self. Group will meet one time weekly for eight weeks. $500

    Group Offered: Wednesday from 3:30-4:30pm.

     

  • Parent Group

    Parent Group

    This 8-week group program provides support for parents of children with Autism. This group is an opportunity to connect with other parents while learning through educational opportunities to address topics such as increasing one’s relationship with their child, mental health, mindfulness, coping with life changes and developing community. This group will provide support, education and strategies. Group will meet every other week for eight weeks. (4 sessions)  $250

    Group Offered: Every other Monday 6:00-7:00pm.
